Integrity Chamber Provides Information Session on Integrity to Customs Department
On December 15, 2022, the Integrity Chamber conducted an information session on the importance of integrity upon the request of the Customs Department Sint Maarten. The session was presented by Integrity Chamber member Hans Lodder, together with staff member Amanda Browne.
During the session, the work of the Integrity Chamber was presented, along with information about integrity in the workplace in general, as well as in the specific context of the Customs Department. Mr. Lodder utilized his relevant background and experience in providing tips on how integrity within the executing agency could be encouraged and maintained.
The session also allowed for the participants to gain a deeper understanding, and the impact on society, of the advices and proposals submitted to Government by the Integrity Chamber. Several scenarios were presented that required feedback from the participants, which resulted in an interactive exchange. The participants were urged to be aware of their responsibility to demonstrate good behaviour, as servants of the community.
The Customs Department expressed enthusiasm for follow-up sessions on the importance of integrity. The Integrity Chamber applauds the executing agency for recognizing the importance of upholding integrity within the organisation, and for taking the necessary steps to foster integrity.
